Resurrecting Chicago

Trusting in Him with each step.

Gerald Watt, C.R.

I am a Roman Catholic priest and a member of a religious community called “The Congregation of the Resurrection.” I’ve been a pastor, a Biology teacher and am also a retired physician Assistant.

I lived in Mexico for three years and in Rome for a year. I speak passable Spanish, sign language (rusty) and some Italian. I’ve travelled in Central America, Europe and visited Antarctica.

My blessing and my curse is that I seem to be interested in just about anything (except computer science and accounting). I love art and enjoy good music. Good books have always been reliable companions for me, especially books relating to the history of exploration, the contemporary Church and well-written novels.

“Resurrection in Chicago,” or “Resurrecting Chicago,” is the name of this blog.  I chose the wording because at the time I opened the site, I lived in Chicago.  “Resurrection” refers to my belief in the rebirth of creation in the image of Our Lord,Jesus Christ.

I know that some essays appear not to deal with resurrection at all. However, I think in most of these posts you’ll find that I’m trying to plant seeds of hope, which is another way of expressing new life, another way of announcing resurrection.
